Education:
BA International Studies, minor German | University of Utah

M.Ed. in Adult Learning & Global Change | University of British Columbia.

Languages:
I minored in German, but after graduation I also studied Spanish for a while. I wish I could say I were fluent in both!

Bio:
I was born in beautiful North Vancouver, B.C., and all my family lives in that area of the world except one sister, who’s here in SLC too. I went to high school in St. George and came to the U of U for my undergraduate degree. I love the campus and I’m a huge football and gymnastics fan! When I’m not advising, I’m probably traveling, watching TV (from Game of Thrones to the Bachelor), or doing something outside (hiking, running, road and mountain biking…). Once in a while, if you’re lucky, I have my adorable mix dog Belle in the office – all six pounds of fury that she is!

MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling | Appalachian State University

Bio:

Originally from the east coast, I moved from the Appalachian Mountains to the Rocky Mountains in 2015 to serve as a Career Counselor at the University of Utah.  Being new(ish) to the state, I’m currently taking full advantage of all the Wasatch Mountains have to offer – snowboarding, hiking, kayaking or floating down the Weber River are some of my favorites.  I also have some degree of animal hair on my clothes at all times thanks to my two dogs and two cats.  I would love to meet you so please feel free to email me or schedule an appointment!

For an advisor to speak about or release student information via email or on the phone, a student must have e-signed the FERPA Consent to Release Form.

This form can be found on CIS -> Financial Aid -> FERPA Consent to Release. Be sure to check the box for Academic Advising.

If you are looking for advice through email, be sure to include your FERPA PIN in your original email. On the phone, please have it handy. That is how we can be sure it is you.

Do you have a question about our advising system? See if we can answer it here:

There is a Book Now link on the main World Languages and Cultures page, or you can use the link at the top of this page!

An Academic Advisor's job covers a great variety of duties from advising students to compiling the class schedule to attending University Academic Advising Committee meetings. By taking appointments, I can make sure I will be here and be prepared for our meeting. If something comes up, we have your contact information so you don't arrive at the office and find we're not able to assist you.

During Fall and Spring semesters, we have a small staff of Peer Advisors to assist with Quick Answer Advising. If you have a quick question, drop in during these hours (they will be posted below) to ask. You can also always send us an email.

We answer emails every day, and make a point of responding no later than three days after an email is sent. Sometimes you might get a response within ten minutes!

The appointment calendar will let you book from 12 hours in advance up to 3 weeks in advance. There are no same day appointments.
Ideally, you should come prepared for your appointment by generating and bringing a current DARS for your major or minor in our department.
Of course! However, your phone screen is generally a little small.
If you're more than ten minutes late, you might be told to reschedule. As your advisor, we will be on time and prepared for you, and it is your responsibility and common courtesy to do the same in return.
