Bollywood movies are known for spectacular music and dance, but these sweeping romantic dramas are inextricably linked to India’s shifting values over the past century. How do we recognize and address the latent sexism in our favorite movies? How does Bollywood handle a #MeToo reckoning? Heena Patel (Co-Producer and Artistic Director) and Proma Khosla (Company Director) of Bollywood Boulevard examine sexism and patriarchy on celluloid as well as their relationship to attitudes and culture in Indian society.

Heena Patel is the artistic director and executive producer of Bollywood Boulevard. Heena is also a South Asian performing arts specialist supporting South Asian performing arts and artists through her company, MELA (music.entertainment.live.arts) Group.
Proma Khosla
Proma Khosla is a New York-based writer and dancer. She has published essays and reviews about Bollywood since college, graduated from a Bollywood dance team, and worked on Bollywood sets. When she's not dancing, she writes about Bollywood (as well as other movies and TV) for Mashable.
